Impressions from Rügen

Rügen is located on the Eastern Sea that was once a resort for representatives of the former German Democratic Republic.

Consequently the infrastructure was developed more gently and maintained on a far better level than elsewhere. This natural wonder was preserved in most parts of the island.

I visited the isle around 1990 when it was still in its original state. Much of the island had been preserved in an almost mystical slumber.

In the meanwhile much has changed and many of the most beautiful places are being sold out.
